Postgraduate program activities 2024

Postgraduate program activities in 2024 focused on providing a range of opportunities and experiences for WAARC top-up scholarship students and early-career researchers. These included:

  • developing and practising presentation skills
  • developing and practising networking skills
  • engaging with other students, industry stakeholders and academics
  • gaining feedback on research topics from industry and academics.

Key events included:

  • Launch event at Perth Zoo where PhD scholarship recipients were announced by the Minister for Agriculture and Food
  • Presentation skills workshop with Bluesee Director and Agricultural Communications Consultant Esther Price
  • Support to participate in the Australian Agronomy Conference in Albany, including a Masterclass on Resilient Agronomy 101 delivered by six nationally renowned speakers, and a Networking and Personal Branding session delivered by Value Creators Director Ann Maree O’Callaghan
  • Series of Cohort Connect online learning and sharing sessions including Networking Tips and Tricks with Erin Gorter from Grower Group Alliance, and Socio-Economic Impacts of a PhD Project with Dr Amir Abadi from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development
  • WAARC Inaugural PhD Showcase at Bentley Technology Park featuring guest speakers who shared their unique and inspiring PhD journeys, and presentations by WAARC postgraduate scholarship students on their chosen research topics to gain feedback from industry and academics.
