Following the successful launch of the inaugural WA Agricultural Research Collaboration (WAARC) and Grower Group Alliance (GGA) Honours Partnership Program in 2026, WAARC and GGA are excited to announce Round 2 for 2027.
The WAARC-GGA Honours Partnership Program connects Western Australian Honours students with grower groups to undertake applied, industry-focused research that addresses priority challenges and opportunities across the State’s agricultural sector.
Students gain practical research experience, exposure to regional production systems and valuable industry connections, while grower groups benefit from research aligned with local priorities.
Six scholarships are available in this second round, with two places available through each WAARC member university: Curtin University, Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia (UWA).
The program supports WAARC’s commitment to strengthening Western Australia’s research capacity, developing industry-ready graduates and the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Applications for prospective students and grower groups open on Tuesday, 22 September 2026 and close Tuesday, 8 December 2026.
WAARC and GGA will host an information webinar on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, from 10.00am to 11.00am (AWST), for prospective students, university supervisors and grower groups interested in learning more about the program.
The webinar is an opportunity to hear how the Honours Partnership Program application process works and ask any questions you may have.

The Honours Partnership Program is designed to deliver mutual benefits, providing students with hands-on experience while generating industry-relevant knowledge and outcomes for grower groups and the broader agricultural sector.
Successful students receive a $10,000 scholarship, along with access to up to $10,000 in project operating funds to support approved travel, accommodation and research activities. Students work closely with their university supervisor and host grower group throughout their Honours project, developing valuable industry connections and practical research skills that support future careers in agriculture, research and innovation.
Participating grower groups receive a $10,000 hosting fee and play an important role in helping shape research projects, facilitating local engagement opportunities and supporting students throughout their Honours journey.
WAARC, GGA and participating universities work collaboratively to support each student-host group partnership through scholarship administration, supervision, communications and promotion, governance, and monitoring and evaluation, helping maximise both the student experience and the impact of project outcomes across the agricultural sector.
