WAARC has several ground-breaking applied research projects up and running under its Northern Agriculture and Grains Transformation programs.

The appointment of WAARC’s inaugural Director, Program Leads, and Executive team, has been pivotal in helping shape and drive our strategic direction, research programs and projects in collaboration with industry.

Timeline of WAARC milestones

  • Jul 2022 – WA Agricultural Research Collaboration (WAARC) launched
  • Feb 2023 – Grower Group Alliance (GGA) welcomed as WAARC member bringing producer insights, industry networks and funding to the Collaboration
  • May 2023 – Inaugural WAARC research project begins under the Northern Agriculture program (Cropping Enabled Cattle project)
  • Jul 2023 – Appointment of inaugural WAARC Director
  • Nov 2023 – First two projects announced under the Grains Transformation program (Lupin Disease Resistance and Harvestable Annual Legume Options (HALO) projects)
  • Feb 2024 – Six Program Leads announced to head up WAARC’s applied research and development programs
  • Feb 2024 – Third project launched under the Grains Transformation program (N-ABLE project)
  • Mar 2024 – Applications open for Round 1 of WAARC’s Postgraduate Research Scholarship Program
  • May 2024 – Appointment of WAARC Chief Operating Officer
  • Jul 2024 – Fourth project launched under the Grains Transformation program (Wheat Nitrogen Use Efficiency project)
  • Jul 2024 – Inaugural cohort of 23 scholarship students announced at WAARC Postgraduate Research Scholarship Program launch
