WAARC Horizons Issue 8

Study opportunities shaping WA agriculture in 2026

The WA Agricultural Research Collaboration (WAARC) Postgraduate Research Scholarship Program is designed to build a more connected and capable agricultural research workforce in Western Australia, linking emerging researchers with industry, government and the broader RD&E system from the outset.

As the program moves beyond its initial establishment phase, the emphasis is increasingly on what a coordinated, cross-sector research pipeline can contribute to the broader agricultural system.

Round 3 of the WAARC Postgraduate Research Scholarship Program is now open, bringing a further six PhD opportunities into a cohort that is steadily growing in both size and reach.

Backed by the State Government, the program is designed to do more than support individual projects.

It is building a cohort of researchers who are connected early across universities, government and industry, and who are developing an understanding of how their work fits within the broader RD&E system.
