The Government of Western Australia officially launched its 10-Year Science and Technology Plan on 4 December, which aims to establish WA as a global hub for leading and inclusive science and technology research, development, commercialisation and deployment.
Our own Resilient Agricultural Futures Program Lead Kirsty Moynihan, and Aboriginal Science Engagement Program Lead Kerrine Blenkinsop, represented WAARC at the launch event organised by Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. They were honoured to be able to celebrate this significant milestone with the wider science community.
The Plan sets a long-term approach to science, focused on prioritising research and innovation, nurturing talent and encouraging collaboration – all goals which WAARC strongly aligns with.
WAARC supports at least two key elements of the Plan, including decarbonisation (and clean energy linked to agricultural systems), as well as sustainable and secure food.
We’re thrilled to have been part of the launch event and look forward to playing a role in the implementation of the 10-Year Science and Technology Plan moving forward.
